GROUP 3 - QUESTIONS

  • ONE PIPE SYSTEM
  •          Why one pipe system is less convenient?

-         A single pipe for soil waste and a single pipe for vent so there are chances of blockage which can reduce flow rate.
-

  •       At the bottom of high rise building how does one control the pressure inside the pipe?

-         By providing pipes with enough thickness to resist the pressure .

  •    When there is a blockage in the soil pipe ,will the waste get into vent pipe and how it get removed?

-         The waste will get into the vent and can be removed by giving door bends at the bottom.

BUNDLED TUBE STRUCTURAL SYSTEM

·        Why I beam is efficient than other steel section ?

                -

·                   In  a bundle structure system ,does it taper towards the top?

-         No.

 ·        Is diagrid structural system better than bundled structural system or vice- versa ?

Diagrid system is better than bundled tube system in terms of :-
-         Aesthetic view
-         Reduces use of steel upto 20%
-         Makes maximum use of structural material

·        Why was the need for another system (diagrid) when bundled tube structure was considered effective ?

-         When complex geometric and curved shapes came into use diagrid was more efficient.

·        Does Willis Tower soley depend on the column – beam framing of the bundles tube system to resist wind load and earthquake ?

-         It also uses bracing.

KMBR

Why according to the NBC rules, fire fighting provisions are not required for small buildings?

-Because it is easy to escape from small building to ground.

·         Why does the fire tank in apartments doesn’t contain water mixed with carbon-dioxide?

-Because it could be harmful to people inside building causing less amount of oxygen, and also used for water for general purpose.

 ·         Why is the rule regarding to cul de sac (below 250m length) allow 2m setback for buildings up to 7m height?

-Since the road has a dead end, it only promotes one way traffic, and it also serve as a private road to a private property, so lesser setback is sufficient.
